Canvas has passed the current staging acceptance path and remains in a controlled rollout.
Current status
RFM has verified Canvas staging for Dynamic Registration, instructor Deep Linking placement, learner launch and relaunch, and first/retake final-grade return. New institution connections are enabled only through an explicit RFM-controlled pilot; this public site does not create or manage one.
Production registration values and production setup are not publicly available.
Prepare for a pilot
A school preparing for an approved pilot should use a Canvas beta or test account first.
- Canvas root-administrator access for the test account.
- One sandbox course and one test learner.
- Permission to create and install an LTI developer key.
- Permission to make each RFM module or assignment placement open in a new tab.
- A plan to keep test and production registrations separate.
Registration paths
An approved staging pilot can begin with Canvas Dynamic Registration from the authenticated institution console. Canvas still requires the local administrator to review and enable the resulting developer key and installation. Manual registration remains the complete fallback: RFM supplies release-approved public tool values, and the school supplies its Canvas issuer, client ID, deployment ID, authorization endpoint, token endpoint, and JWKS endpoint.
Do not send passwords, private keys, access tokens, or raw launch messages through documentation or email.
Final grade service requirements
Grade return uses the same institution connection and resource link as learner launch. For an approved staging proof, enable the standard AGS Line Item and Score permissions on the Canvas developer key and installation. RFM does not request roster, result-import, or course-management authority.
- RFM creates or reuses one 100-point item named Red Flag Mania Final Assessment for each approved resource link.
- Only the latest completed RFM final-assessment percentage is returned.
- A retake updates that same item; it does not create a second assignment.
- Individual exercise, investigation, and activity scores are not sent.
- Production grade return stays disabled until a separate controlled approval.
One connection, then course placement
Canvas onboarding is reviewed once per institution. The LMS administrator then completes a separate registration for each selected staging or production environment from the same institution console. After an environment is approved, course staff use the RFM Deep Linking picker to choose an approved investigation; learners launch already connected to the correct immutable RFM enrollment. RFM-created Deep Links request a new-window launch. For a manually created Canvas module or assignment placement, enable Load in a new tab before publishing it.
The new-tab setting preserves RFM's anti-framing security policy. Deep Linking placement has passed Canvas staging acceptance. Manual Basic Launch remains available as a controlled fallback.
