Setup workflow

Every LMS follows the same four-stage model, even when the menu names differ.

Before you start

Use an LMS test or beta environment and an RFM staging invite. The person completing setup needs LMS administrator access.

  • No RFM private key or LMS password is exchanged.
  • Staging and production are separate registrations.
  • Prepare one sandbox course and one test learner.

Four setup stages

  1. 1

Create the LTI 1.3 tool in the LMS with RFM’s public staging values.

  2. 2

Save the LMS tool and copy its issuer, client ID, deployment ID, and public-key information.

  3. 3

Sign in to RFM and attach those values to the correct institution.

  4. 4

Create one sandbox resource link, launch as a learner, and run verification.

Move to production

After staging verifies, create a separate production registration. Production does not reuse staging identifiers or silently inherit staging mappings.
